Club History

It is mainly thanks to the energy and enthusiasm of Mervyn Fox Pitt that the Dundee and Perth Polo Club was born in the mid 1960’s. In the early days Polo was played on the Earl of Dundee’s Birkhill Estate in Fife among a few friends and on many and variable grounds.

In 1972 the club moved to a ground within the racecourse at Scone Palace in Perthshire.

In 2015 the club moved to Errol Park in Perthshire. Here the club enjoys amazing grounds in a beautiful setting by the River Tay.

One of the highlights of the club’s history has been the number and variety of visiting teams. International matches have been played against Canada, France, Ghana, India, Ireland, Kenya, Malta, Peru, South Africa and the USA to name a few.

The club has also been honoured to receive visits from some great Polo players over the years in particular visits from HRH The Prince of Wales recorded in the photographs below.
